Lynn James is the award-winning, personal finance blogger, Mrs MummyPenny, on a mission to bring financial education to a mainstream audience, especially women.

A qualified accountant Lynn worked in commercial and finance roles for corporates including HSBC, EE and Tesco for 16 years before redundancy presented her with the opportunity to run Mrs MummyPenny full time in 2015.

Lynn joined PR with Heart two years into her business with a desire to grow her audience and impact. It quickly became clear Lynn’s channel of communication to reach her audience is national mainstream press – she is a natural. Refining her purpose and message Lynn secured articles in The Mirror, The Sun, Sunday Times, Woman’s Own, BBC Radio and TV.

Lynn’s best moment so far was writing her story of paying back £16,000 in debt for the Financial Times. The most read article of the weekend it trended on MSN globally and Lynn was invited onto the Financial Times Podcast.

Lynn shared: “Being in the Financial Times is the pinnacle for me as a personal finance writer. When I aligned with my heart new financial partnerships came knocking at my door, my website traffic went up by 50% and my turnover up by 30%.”

Lynn was due to join The Antigua Retreat in March 2020 when Covid 19 shut down global travel. We met online to explore Lynn’s 2020 Vision, which included regular daytime TV appearances, long-term partnerships with brands with shared values, writing and promoting her book, being recognised for her service to financial education in the UK.

One month on, Lynn has been invited by ITV and Channel 4 for live interviews on lunchtime news responding to viewers financial questions in relation to the Corona Virus. She was contacted by a financial company with shared values, a potential new long-term client and asked to become a brand ambassador for one of her favourite clients. She’d also mapped out the skeleton structure for her book and written the first 12,000 words.
